Faith's First Soccer Game!

It's soccer time! Faith has now joined the ranks of her big sister and brother. She is is quite a little soccer player, perhaps a star in the making. Surely, my opinion is completely objective (just because I am her mom and coach, one might think I am biased?). All joking a side, I am so proud of Faith. She really goes after the ball! I think she has learned a lot by watching Sam and Noah play the last several years.

Coaches Note: This year I decided to coach Faith's team. I have always loved soccer, but have never been a coach. As the reality of coaching was thrust upon me, I began to doubt my ability to teach the game and to keep it fun. I honestly wondered if I had made a mistake. Now with a few practices and a game behind us, I am so excited to be coach to 6 of the sweetest little soccer players. The girls made me so proud, even when we made 2 goals for the other team - LOL.

Cheering Competition at the Fair

The Competition

Proud Girls!
Faith and Lorelei did an amazing job at their first competition. I was afraid that Faith would get on stage and freeze, but much to my delight she did a great job. The girls did better than they had during any of their previous practices. Faith made me a very proud mama.

Faith & Lorelei Ride on their First Float!

Ventura County Fair Parade - August 9

Faith and Lorelei were in their first parade with AIM (Athletes in Motion) Cheerleading. They were probably the youngest participants. The theme of the Fair was Pure Bred and Home Grown. Faith and Lorelei were chosen to hold the signs, which gave them something to focus on. They did a great job smiling, waving and shouting out the chants. Their float was the very last parade entry. By the end (3 or 4 hours after arrival), Faith and Lorelei were done!! Lorelei got over headed and Faith bursted into tears when she saw her Dad. Thankfully, Evan was at the end of the parade route. Overall, a great time!!

Going Country at the Fair!

Attending the Ventura County Fair is a longheld tradition. When I was in high school I raised a pig and several sheep for the fair. During the fair, my family (along with many other FFA and 4-H framilies) would bring a trailer and camp for a week. We all had a great time caring for and showing our animals! As we wraped up the fair, we would auction our animals. Some kids would be sad, but I generally did fine. Raising an animal taught me a lot about responsibility and hard work. It also taught me some key financial lessons.

My kids have not had an opportunity to raise any fair animals, but we still enjoy attending the fair. The kids typically dress country . I just wanted to share a few pictures.
