Surprise!!!

Surprise!! Wow, that word can be huge!! I typically do not like surprises, especially when it comes to "big birthdays". Despite the warnings and threats of bodily injury my husband gave me the biggest surprise ever. It happened last Friday night at 11:30PM, when I was asleep in my huge nightshirt.

Evan woke me to tell me that there was a knock at the door. I was not thrilled to say the least. He wanted me to open the door! I refused, as I was sure an 11:30 PM knock on the door could not be good. Boy (or Golly as my dear friend would say), I was so wrong. Standing before me was one of my best friends in the entire world, Darcy Miller (and her 2 precious little ones, Ri and Elizabeth were asleep in the car). After a moment of shock and awe, I was thrilled beyond words. I wish that I would have been awake and dressed, but I cannot complain. Evan knows me so well; He could have not given me a more perfect and wonderful gift. I love the Miller family!

We stayed awake until 2AM chatting! Elizabeth and Ri played and ran about the house with Noah and Sam. I knew this was a good sign, as Elizabeth is just like Faith. If she gets uncomfortable, she clings to her mom. (Okay, I know Faith would cling to her dad but you get my point) God is good!! I was so excited to wake up Saturday morning, so I could share the excitement with Faith and Luke. Faith woke up and saw Darcy coming down the stairs. She let Darcy carry her down. I was shocked to say the least, as she can be so reserved and closes down under new circumstances.

The three little ones played splendidly! They had a blast every single day. We stayed up late every night and still woke up early. I was so proud of how well they behaved!!! They were definitely little troopers! Luke also had a blast playing and following around the big kids! Samantha and Noah loved being around the kids! Noah really gets down and plays; The kids always love him. Ri really took to Samantha and she could have not been happier to hang out with him and the girls.

Darcy is incredible!! I loved every single minute!! It was fun showing her southern California, but the best part was all the conversations we shared about God, family and our lives. God is good! I know that only he could orchestrate a friendship like this. A friendship that started through the miracle of adoption. We spent 12 days together in China and our families have remained incredibly close. I love each and every Miller. I feel incredible blessed!

It was sad dropping of Darcy, Ri and Elizabeth at the airport. I will miss them, but I am so happy they came. Thanks to Evan for making this possible. Thanks to Mark, Emily, Erin, Sam and Jacob for sharing their wife/mom and siblings.
