Samantha got to spent two nights in the dorms at Westmont College. She was there for a GATE Leadership Conference. She had lots of fun and made lots of new friends. She is now looking forward to going to college. So much for the "mommy, I will never leave you" comments she use to make. As I get closer to sending my first baby out into this world, I realize how much work I still need to do. I am praising God for Sam. The pictures from this post were take on the Westmont Campus after the conference.

Track BBQ
The kids love the Track BBQ. There is a time for Awards and eating, but their favorite part is hanging out with friends and having a BIG water fight. It starts out with water balloons and waterguns, but quickly becomes buckets or any other fillable object. It is a soaking experience! I would love to show you some pictures, but we didn't take any, as we did not want the camera to get soaked.
Mother's Day
Mother's Day with Mam
Mother's Day with Gram
This year we celebrated Mother's Day with Mam by going to Claim Jumpers and hanging out at "The Lakes". The kids had lots of fun playing! Luke and PopPop were buddies - playing spin, drop and retrieve the rattle. Any guesses at to who the dropper was?
During the afternoon, we attended the Track BBQ. It wasn't my traditional Mother's Day, but it was a typical day in the life of a mom. Evan and I had a conversation about how fitting it was, the moms spent mom's day celebrating track with their kids rather than doing something for themselves. Isn't that what motherhood is about?
On Sunday evening, we went to Yamato's with my parents to celebrate mom's day. Luke really enjoyed it this time. They cook right in front of you! My favorite part is the burning heart (fried rice) and onion volcano. There is something fun about the flames!
Just a couple comments about my mom:
- She loves being a Grammy and all the kids adore her
- She has always been able to keep up with the domestic side of mothering. Trust me there is never a laundry pile-up or dishes in the sink. What happened to me?
- She has always made family her top priority including her parents, kids, grand-kids.
- She has helped more people in more ways than I can possible mention. She has opened the door to the masses and been generous beyond her means!
- Thanks Mom! You have always done your best and I am grateful for the many sacrifices that you and dad have made for me.
